Germany... the 48 hours...

Thanks to another business trip, I got the chance to visit Germany!!! Berlin it was, where I stayed for a period of 2 days! Like most business  trips, I did not really have the chance to see much of it, but at least I got to saw a little bit.

Apparently German people love any kind of pig meat. The love is so much that you actually have pig-less sections during buffets instead of meat-less sections. They definitely enjoy their sausages, and I hear they make the best hot-dogs in the world. Unfortunately, I could not try those out. I did get to enjoy some freshly squeezed orange juice. Ever since leaving Pakistan, I have not had such tasty orange juice. Having had oranges growing in my garden, I can definitely say that it was as good as it gets.

German is a very strong language, and a lot of people in the word speak it. A direct consequence of this is the fact that even though they understand English, they may reply to you in German! Its not so bad though! Most people there are good at English!!! Germans are supposed to brew good beer as well, but once again, I missed that!!!

On our way back we had bit of a stroll around Berlin. I think I managed to cover most of it, the Blackpool Tower, the independence tower, Berlin wall, checkpoint Charlie, and a lot of other shiny things!!!!

Could not take pictures as I was driving our huge company van, which I drove back all the way from Berlin to Oxford, but that’s another story !!!

I do not know if germany was or wasn't european enough... funnily I hav never really made a european scale so far..

plus in my job its always rush rush rush so u rarely experience the city !!!

Saadia said...

Do you need a scale to see if a city is European? You just need culture and history. The feel of it! Germany, I guess, loses out because of the WWII destructions.

well in that case i found berlin to be very GERMAN... full o history... !

i agree there is nothing like visting a country when someone else is paying for it ...
I went to england couple of time and have spend 3 months ... I have a very good german friend and she has told me lot about Germany ...i mean the cultue difference ..as Sadia said its quite different from other european countries .germans are bit reserved and thet coldness in character is seen in architecture too ...

Italy and france are more warm and romantic ...but then its no news ...

Abdul Sami said...

@dream...

thanks for visitin the blog.. hope to see more of you !

germans, the swiss, and the french... all are quite stuborn on their own account and very proud of it!

i would not call them cold but then again i hav not experienced them as such...
