So, Italy. First impression, very much like Pakistan.
The roads are extremely straight. In fact, it was the Romans who started off the whole straight roads concept, way back when they were on top of the world. However, the traffic conditions are a bit slow, with the roads in not that much of a good condition. I did notice that road works were indicated by yellow lines instead of the usual white ones. This did seem like a nice concept. Just stay within the yellow lines and you are good.
The thing a brit may like, no speed cameras... none at all. Speed limits are mentioned everywhere, but no prominant speed cameras I guess. They would be keeping checks by speed guns here and there I guess, but that would be on rare places.
You see a lot of Alfa Romeos there. Not that many Ferraris I am afraid.
Architecture, once again, reminded me of Pakistan. Very much like it indeed.
So were the people. The guys look a little arabic, but the ladies looked like pretty Pakistani girls.
Anyways, me and my colleague landed there around 11 pm at night, rented a car, and went straight to the hotel.
Following is a video I made the next morning. I am not exactly inside Milan. I was in Bergamo, which is a suburb of Milan. It was from my PDA so the quality is horrible. Apologies for that...
Later at breakfast, I noted a very interesting thing. They keep these pots on the table so that you can throw things from bones to wrappers in them. The main purpose, keep the table clean. Something which we may call HADDYON wali plate in Pakistan. ;)
Oh yes, almost forgot. Another thing that reminded me of Pakistan. LUX soap.
The Italians are quite specific about coffee. You can only have things like Cappicinos and the likes at breakfast. Rest is pure Espresso.
Espresso... aaah!!! Yup!!! Italians make a few things real good, and Espresso is one of them. Served in a very small sized cup, through out the day, it is a milk-less drink. Not only does it possess no bitterness at all, but keeps you active for quite some time.
The other thing they make real good is Pasta... I had to go with the vegetarian sauce on my pasta, but it went down extremely well.
Pizza, I had none. But I am sure they live up to the hype on that too.
So we went down to meet these clients of ours, and guess what the man is called. Mister FERRARI. That is a name I like :D.
Anyways, we were free around 3ish, and had a flight back in 5 hours, so had some time to kill.
Lets go to Monza Race Circuit, my colleague suggested. Not a bad idea. So we asked good old TomTom to help us out. Unfortunately it did not have any directions to it. Anyways, we thought why not head into Monza, and follow the signs. Innocence!!! We went in there, and AUTODROMO written on a sign reminded us of the correct name. However, the signs gave up on us as we reached Monza Park. Little did we know that we had to go through it.
We parked a car along the side, and took a breather, as a call back confirmed that it was called Autodromo Nationale. We looked it up, and finally TomTom told us the way. Unfortunately we were led back into the Monza Park. A screw up on the maps, or the software, but we had to go through a golf course. We reached where we could drive up to, and that was the limit. We could see a little of the track, but unfortunately, that was that. We were hoping for a museum or somthing, but nopes. Not where we ended at least.
Just a tip! If TomTom tells you that it can avoid toll roads, do not take the option. We tried it on our way there, and it took us 3 times the time it would have taken. On our way back we took the toll road, and it came to a mere total of €1.40.
So it was time to head back. TomTom screweed up once again as it was leading us back. Anyways, we did manage to get back to the airport for the flight home.
That was most of it, unless I remember something else laters. :)
